Privacy Policy

Neighborhood Nurturers
Effective Date: June 10, 2025   Last Updated: June 10, 2025

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Neighborhood Nurturers (“we,” “us,” or the “Company”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the website at neighborhoodnurturers.com and related services (the “Services”). It is part of and incorporated into our Terms and Conditions.

Our Services let you participate in your local town or city community under an assigned, public-facing user identifier (for example, “User 5090”) rather than your real name. This policy explains what that anonymity does and does not mean for your information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information — such as the email address you register with, your password (stored in encrypted form), and the town or city you join.
  • Content you post — the text and any images or other material in your posts, comments, and direct messages.
  • Communications — information you provide when you contact us for support, report content, or send a legal or dispute notice.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and usage data — such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — small files used to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and understand how the Services are used. See Section 7.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including creating and securing your account;
  • Display your posts, comments, and messages within your community and deliver direct messages between users;
  • Send you the email alerts you sign up for about new posts in your area, and respond to your support requests;
  • Monitor, moderate, and enforce our Terms, including reviewing reported content and addressing abuse, fraud, and security issues;
  • Understand and improve how the Services are used;
  • Show and measure advertising that helps keep the Services free, as described in Sections 5, 7, and 12; and
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

4. Your Anonymity

Your posts, comments, and messages appear under your assigned identifier (for example, “User 5090”), never your real name or email address. Other users only ever see that identifier. We built the Services this way on purpose, so you can take part in your community freely.

We keep the account details behind your identifier secure and private, and we only access or share them in the narrow situations described in Section 6.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share limited information with advertising partners as described below and in Section 7, which some state laws define as a “sale” or “share”; you can opt out at any time. We share information only as described here:

  • With service providers who perform functions on our behalf (such as hosting, email delivery, and analytics), under obligations to protect the information and use it only for those functions;
  • With advertising partners — the Services are free to use, and we support them by showing ads. Some advertising partners, including Google, may use cookies to show ads that are more relevant to you. We never share your real name or email address with advertisers, and they never learn who you are. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the bottom of every page;
  • For legal reasons — to comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or governmental request, or to enforce our Terms;
  • To protect rights and safety — where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent harm, fraud, or illegal activity, or to protect the Company, our users, or the public;
  • In a business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy; and
  • Public content — anything you post publicly on the Services is, by its nature, visible to others and may be seen, copied, or shared by them.

6. When We May Share Account Information

Your identity is never shared with other users — no one on the Services can find out who you are, no matter who asks. We will not reveal your information to another person, a business, or anyone else simply because they request it. The only exception is when we are legally required to, such as by a valid court order, and even then we will notify you first whenever we are permitted to. Your privacy is the default, and only a court — never another user — can override it.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, secure the Services, understand how they’re used, and — with partners like Google — to show and measure ads. We do not share your real name or email address with advertising partners. You can control cookies through your browser settings (disabling some may affect how the Services work), and you can opt out of personalized ads as described in Section 12.

8. Email Communications and Your Choices

If you sign up for new-post alerts, we will email you about activity in your area. Every marketing or alert email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can change your notification preferences in your account. We may still send you essential service and administrative messages (for example, security or legal notices) that are part of your account.

9. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, and afterward only as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and maintain security. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. Content may persist in backups for a reasonable period after deletion.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and you must be at least 16 to use them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us information, contact us at neighborhoodnurturers0@gmail.com.

12. Your Privacy Rights by State

12.1 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion of your personal information; to correct inaccurate information; and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money, but our advertising partners’ use of cookies may be considered a “sale” or “share” under California law, which is why we provide the opt-out described below. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 15; we will verify your request before responding.

Your choices about advertising. To keep the Services free, we work with advertising partners like Google to show relevant ads. Advertisers never receive your real name or identity. If you’d still rather not have your information used for personalized advertising, you’re in control: use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the bottom of any page, and we’ll honor your choice — including recognized browser privacy signals like Global Privacy Control, where applicable. We don’t knowingly use the information of users under 16 for these ads without consent.

12.2 Residents of Other States

Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and others — may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 15.

12.3 California “Shine the Light” and Browser Signals

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own independent direct marketing. For advertising on our own Services, we honor recognized opt-out browser signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required by law, and you can use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the bottom of any page at any time.

13. Data Storage and Transfers

We store and process information in the United States. The Services are intended for users located in the United States, and by using them you understand that your information will be handled in the United States.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by a notice on the Services or an email to the address associated with your account.
