Getting the most out of Round Rock

Each market has its own rhythm, vendors, and best-early hours worth learning. Round Rock has three markets, and they are not interchangeable

Most pages treat “the farmers market” as one thing here. It is not, and knowing the difference saves a wasted Saturday.

1. Trailside Market — Memorial Park

Memorial Park, 600 North Lee Street, Round Rock, TX 78664.

Every Saturday, June to October, 9am to 12pm.

This is the city’s own market and the most narrowly seasonal of the three — a summer-and-early-autumn proposition only, with a short morning window. Arrive early; a market that closes at noon is effectively over by 11.30am.

Its location matters: Memorial Park sits close to the historic downtown, which makes it easy to combine with a walk around Main Street afterwards.

2. Round Rock Market Days — Prete Plaza

Prete Main Street Plaza, downtown Round Rock.

The first Saturday of the month, with vendor booths from 9am to 4pm.

This is the monthly one, and it runs on a very different rhythm — once a month, all day, in the heart of the historic downtown. It is more of a market day in the traditional sense than a weekly produce run.

Because it sits on Prete Plaza in the walkable old Main Street area, it pairs naturally with coffee at Lamppost Coffee, 201 E. Main Street, and with the shops and restaurants around it.

3. Round Rock Farmers Market — behind IKEA

Off IH-35 North, behind IKEA Round Rock.

Every Saturday, 10am to 2pm.

The weekly, year-round option, run by Farmer George. The location is unglamorous — a plaza off the interstate rather than a park — but the trade-off is that it runs consistently and holds later hours than Trailside, which makes it the practical choice if you are not a morning person.

It is also the easiest of the three to reach from the I-35 corridor, and the easiest to park at.

Which one to go to

For summer produce in a park setting: Trailside at Memorial Park, Saturday mornings June to October. Go early.

For a day out rather than a shop: Market Days at Prete Plaza, first Saturday of the month, and make a downtown morning of it.

For a reliable weekly run all year: the Round Rock Farmers Market behind IKEA, 10am to 2pm.

If you can only go once: a first Saturday between June and October, when all three are potentially running and downtown is at its best.

Central Texas seasons, and what to actually buy

The growing calendar here is not the one people bring from cooler states, and it changes what is worth going for.

Spring is the strong season for greens, and the weather is at its most pleasant for standing outdoors.

Early summer brings the peak — tomatoes, peaches, melons and stone fruit are what Central Texas does genuinely well, and June into July is when a market trip is most worth it.

High summer is punishing. From late July into September, a market that closes at noon is closing for a reason, and shopping at 11.30am in August is an ordeal. Get there when it opens.

Autumn and winter thin out considerably, which is why two of the three markets are seasonal.

Practical notes

Confirm before travelling. Market seasons, hours and locations move, and the two seasonal markets do not run all year.

Bring cash as well as a card. Individual vendors vary.

Go at opening in summer. Both heat and the best produce argue for it.

Combine with the donuts. Round Rock Donuts at 106 W. Liberty Avenue is a Saturday morning fixture and has been since 1926.

Then the park. Old Settlers Park at 3300 East Palm Valley Boulevard is the natural next stop with a bag of produce and a morning still ahead of you.

Why three markets in a city this size

It is a reasonable question, and the answer is growth.

Round Rock reached 142,053 residents in December 2025, inside a Williamson County of roughly 752,800 that is among the fastest-growing in the United States — adding 25,840 people between 2023 and 2024 alone.

A city growing at that rate develops multiple market traditions at once rather than one: a civic market run by the city, a monthly downtown market day serving the historic centre, and a commercially run weekly market positioned for the interstate corridor. They answer different needs and different parts of the city, which is why all three survive.

It also reflects a city deliberately building traditions. Round Rock is new enough that most of its residents arrived recently, and the markets — like Music on Main on Wednesday nights and Hometown Halloween on Main Street — are part of a conscious effort to give a fast-growing suburb a shared calendar. See the events guide.
